Family Background
…coming soon…

Character History
Libby was born on April 9th, 1998, just seven months after her parents’ hasty wedding. Treated very much like an only child for the first four years of her life (the age difference between Libby and her siblings was rather significant), she was a happy, outgoing child with an incredibly active imagination. Although she was perfectly content dreaming up solitary adventures in the family’s sprawling backyard, the December of her fourth year yielded the best Christmas present ever: a baby brother. Finally, she had a playmate!

As expected, she received her Hogwarts letter shortly after her eleventh birthday. Given her family history, and the fact that she was an extremely bright, curious child, everyone expected that she would be sorted into Ravenclaw. The Sorting Hat had other ideas. While the hat acknowledged that she would be a good candidate for Ravenclaw, it sensed in her fierce loyalty and a generous, energetic spirit that would be a great asset to Hufflepuff. Libby was disappointed at first, but soon grew to love her house and housemates. She flourished in Hufflepuff, playing seeker on the house team and discovering a great love for - and significant talent in - Charms and Transfiguration.

Her interest in healing developed after a near-tragic Quidditch accident during her fifth year. A bludger, hit by one of the Gryffindor beaters, slammed into one of her teammates. The heavy bludger crushed one side of the chaser's face and knocked her off of her broom. The injured girl fell more than thirty feet to the ground, her spine cracking upon impact.

Libby, spurred on by fear and adrenaline, raced to the fallen teammate and managed to perform anti-swelling and pain-relieving charms, a modified petrificus to prevent further injury, and a mobilicorpus before Madam Pomfrey even reached the scene. The nurse later told Libby that her quick thinking and skill with a wand most likely saved her friend's life, and encouraged her to consider a career as a healer.

She took this advice to heart, and spent the next two years reading learning everything she could about medical magic. After graduation, she spent a year studying under Madame Pomfrey, two years in St. Mungo’s healer training program, and an additional two years as a staff healer at the wizarding hospital. When Poppy Pomfrey announced her retirement in the spring of 2022, she immediately recommended Libby as her replacement. The position was offered, Libby accepted, and she is currently halfway through her first year as "Madame Hornby", the school healer.

personality
Libby is quirky and energetic, amiable and prone to bouts of whimsy. She’s a hard-worker, but lacks the focus traditionally displayed by members of Hufflepuff House. Her interests are many and varied, but her typical modus operandi is to latch onto a particular cause or idea with relentless fervor...for about a month. She loves helping people, though, and healing is a passion that hasn't ebbed over the years. She's extremely good at what she does, and firmly believes that healing is her true calling.

miscellaneous

Astrological Sign: Ares
Aries is the first sign of the Zodiac and governs the head. Positive characteristics of Aries include courage, enthusiasm, idealism, charisma, quick wits, an ability to "think on one's feet," leadership potential, exuberant energy, zeal, and innocence. Negative traits include selfishness, tactlessness, egocentrism, an inability to save money, impetuousness, a hot temper, combativeness, oversensitivity, carelessness, and cruelty.

Hufflepuff Ariens have an extreme abundance of energy; however, the usual Hufflepuff tendency to work hard out of duty is modified by the Aries tendency to value play over work. Therefore, expect long periods of playfulness and seeming indolence punctuated by brief, manic bursts of industry. These Hufflepuffs may also be more ambitious and socially aggressive than average, making them clear leaders in their House. Their emotional warmth, open hearts, madcap sense of humour, and quirky independence will endear them to many people, but their naivete makes for easy exploitation by more ruthless sorts of people.
