history
Vanessa is the only child of Donaghan Tremlett, bassist for The Weird Sisters, and his ex-wife, Sofia Wagtail. Donnie, along with his best mate Myron (Sofie's older brother) and several other close friends, formed a band during their Hogwarts years – 50 Points from Gryffindor. After graduation, the band changed their name to The Weird Sisters and released their self-titled debut album in 1992. The rest is history. The Sisters are widely acknowledged as having reinvented wizard rock, and have been the inspiration of many later bands.
The band almost broke up in 2002, when it was discovered that 28-year old Donnie was secretly dating Myron’s sister Sofie (who was just 17 at the time). For four months, during which he recorded a widely panned, angst-ridden solo album called "Soliloquy," Myron refused to speak to or work with Donnie. Thankfully, however, all was eventually forgiven, and Donnie and Sofie were married soon after she graduated in 2003.
At first, everything was perfect. Vanessa was born in 2006, and Sofie loved Donnie with all the enthusiasm of a starry-eyed teenager. It soon became apparent, however, that this wasn’t enough. As the Sisters continued to climb to near legendary levels of fame, Sofie began to grow sick of the late nights, never-ending tours, parties, and, of course, the ever-present groupies.
In 2009, when Vanessa was just three years old, Sofie snapped. She left Donnie and Vanessa and moved to the United States, where, according to Myron, she later met and married a muggle investment banker. She has two children with her new husband, half-siblings whom Vanessa has never met.
The split was surprisingly painless. Donnie knew that things had gone sour years before, and Vanessa was too young to understand what happened. Donnie doted on and spoiled his daughter, giving her everything she could possibly want. She toured with the band, attended lavish parties, and received star treatment everywhere she went. Her childhood was very much in the spotlight, documented in the newspapers and magazines of the wizarding world.
Luckily, Vanessa wasn't the only child who toured with the Sisters - Kirley Duke often brought along his wife and three kids. In many ways, Vanessa became almost like an extension of the Duke siblings; they were like the older brothers and sister she never had. Of all the Duke children, however, she was closest in age and friendship with Jeremiah (better known as JD). To this day, she and JD are very close, even though they're a year apart and in different houses.
She did quite well on her O.W.L.s, receiving an O in DADA, Es in Potions, Herbology, Charms, and Transfiguration, and As in Ancient Runes and Astronomy.
personality
Vanessa is energetic, fun-loving and just a little bit mischievous. A free spirit, she wears what she wants, says what she wants, and does what she wants - even if that gets her into trouble at times. She doesn’t blatantly ignore the rules per se, but she doesn't have much regard for them, either. There’s not a shy or self-conscious bone in her body (well, maybe one or two), and she can be rather outrageous at times.
Vanessa loves people. She is perfectly comfortable in a group setting, but she's also quite content to simply observe from the sidelines. She’s had plenty of chances to do this growing up, and finds it fascinating. She's very friendly, getting along well with people of all ages and backgrounds. She's slow to pass judgment on others (from her experience people-watching, she’s learned that first impressions aren’t always accurate), and is almost always willing to give someone a second chance.
Vanessa is far from perfect, of course. She can act rather spoiled at times, and has hard time accepting "no" for an answer. She also lacks patience, something that could be due to her privileged-but-nomadic childhood. Although she has many interests, she gets bored easily and often longs for a change of scenery. She tends to leave things incomplete, always searching for the Next Big Thing.
She doesn’t play Quidditch, but watches the sport with interest, usually rooting for Ravenclaw or Slytherin. Her father taught her how to play the bass guitar at a very early age, but she prefers the piano and harpsichord. She loves to write (usually prose, but she’s been known to pen song lyrics as well), and has thought about becoming an author or journalist after graduation.

ASTROLOGICAL SIGN: Gemini.
Gemini is the third sign of the zodiac and has influence over the hands, arms, shoulders, and lungs. Positive traits include quick wits, versatility, flexibility, fluency with words and ideas, an open mind, a love of learning, adaptability, agility, sharp perception, and cheerfulness; negative traits are duplicity, mood swings, flightiness, nervousness, fidgeting, lack of attention span, a tendency to be easily influenced, and undependability.
Ravenclaw Geminis are geniuses of communication. They debate ideas, write brilliant treatises, teach exciting classes, read large numbers of books on a regular basis, and study arcane languages. Because Mercury the planet is associated with the alchemical substance of quicksilver, the god Hermes (the messenger of the gods, and the conductor or dead souls to the Underworld), and the historical founder of alchemy, Hermes Trismagistus, many Ravenclaw Geminis also excel at the study of alchemy. These Ravenclaws are some of the best and most brilliant of their class, but they need to learn to finish the projects they start, and to differentiate between what is viable and what is best left as a "really great idea.".
